How to earn PokerStars Rakeback?
Everything is based on playing at PokerStars, earning VPPs and moving up in VIP levels. With the higher VIP level, you will start earning FPPs much faster and the more FPPs you have the higher your rakeback may be. To start earning rakeback you will have to earn 1,200 VPPs, which will entitle you with a SilverStar VIP membership. Earning 1,200 VPPs is really easy and can be reached in one day. Here the good part starts. You will start earning FPPs 1,5x faster. You will get special SilverStar promotions. As for example $50 SilverStars cash bonus, once you earn 5,000 FPPs. Once you purchase this cash bonus you will have to earn another 350 FPPs in 90 days to clear it. However, if you clear this bonus you will get only $0.01 per FPP ($50/5,000 FPPs), but there are better purchases which can give you as much as $0.015 per FPP. So, you can get between 8% and 26% of rakeback at SilverStar level. Everything depends on how spend the FPPs.
If you collect 3,000 VPPs in a month, GoldStar VIP membership is yours. At this level you will be earning FPPs 2 times faster. GoldStar VIP level will give access to GoldStar items, special cash bonuses and huge freerolls. GoldStar members can participate in the weekly $20,000 and monthly $100,000 freeroll. Members of this level can also buy $285 GoldStar bonus for 25,000 FPPs. That is $0.0114 per FPP. Please note, that additional 1,995 FPPs are required to clear this bonus. Also, player has 90 to clear it. GoldStar bonus is better than SilverStar bonus, therefore it is worth to wait till the PlatinumStar bonus. However, if PlatinumStar level is something unreachable for you, use this bonus. Being a GoldStar member means you can earn from 16% to 43% PokerStars rakeback. And here, we hit most of other online poker rooms, that offer no more than 40% rakeback.
PlatinumStar is the highest and best monthly VIP membership at PokerStars. To reach this level player needs to earn 7,500 VPPs per month. Being a PlatinumStar member players earn FPPs 2.5 time faster. PlatinumStar members can purchase entries to major tournaments (WCOOP, WSOP, EPT) for their FPPs, plus these members get all of the access to the GoldStar tournaments. Also, these members can purchase a $650 cash bonus. The price of this bonus is 50,000 FPPs, which means that 1 FPP is worth $0.013. Once the bonus is purchased player has to collect additional 4,550 FPPs withing the next 90 days. PlatinumStar members earn from 17% to 46% PokerStars rakeback. Not so bad, right?
Wondering how do we calculate the rakeback? Believe us, it is easy. Take a look at this imple formula:
Rakeback Per $1 Dollar of Rake = VPP's earned per $1 of rake * FPPs earned per 1 VPP * Value of 1 FPP at a specific VIP level
The number of VPPs earned per $1 on the games and stakes player plays. For example let's take a SilverStar Tournament player playing $50+$5 tournament, this would be the rakeback calculation:
25 VPPs (5VPPs for a $1 in tournament fees) * 1.5 (the FPP multiplier at SilverStar VIP level) * 0.01 (FPP value for SilverStar level) = 37,5%
Another example could be a ring games SilverStar player playing 10-max $2/4 Limit Holdem, and the rake is always $1.00, each player on average would contribute about $0.25. So you would get 4 VPP's per $1 in rake. So:
PokerStars Rakeback = 4 VPPs * 1.5 * 0.01 = 6%
But if this player played a game where exactly $1 was collected in rake, and there were 10 players, so every player on average contributes $0.1, then you would earn 10 VPPs for a $1. So the rakeback would be:
PokerStars Rakeback = 10 VPPs * 1.5 * 0.01 = 15%
So, as said a few times above PokerStars rakeback depends on players VIP status, games, stakes and number of players.
